We have to wait a little bit more (less than 50 days) to enjoy the Olympics but…the Olympic flame has already started the journey across UK that will finish at Olympic stadium on 27 July.
70 days, 80,000 miles, 1,000 cities, 80,000 torchbearers…and 1 flame (Throughout the relay only a single flame will be visible to the public at any one time, there will, however, be up to four other “iterations” kept safe inside oil-fuelled Davy lamp-type devices.)
The torchbearers will primarily be people nominated locally for their achievements or good works, with a smattering of celebrities.
Thousands of people are expected to line the streets of the cities along the route to catch a glimpse of the iconic torch ahead of the staging of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London.
We have already welcome the torch in Liverpool (1st of June) and the other Hatters will make it soon: Manchester (23rd of June) and Birmingham (30th of June).
Will you meet us?
