The Hindu Council of Birmingham, with the support of Birmingham City Council, will be hosting the celebrations at New Bingley Hall in Hockley. There is plenty on offer for all the family with entertainment from 2pm

The word Diwali means ‘rows of lighted lamps’. Diwali is known as the ‘festival of lights’ because houses, shops and public
places are decorated with small earthenware oil lamps called diyas. The festival celebrates the victory of good over evil, light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance. It is safe to say that that no matter your religious views these are things to celebrate.
